ENVIROMENTALLY FRIENDLY TOYOTA 8-SERIES LIFT TRUCKS NAMED PRODUCT OF THE YEAR BY PLANT ENGINEERING MAGAZINE
Prestigious award based on selection by panel of engineers and online reader poll
Toyota Industrial Equipment, a division of Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI), is proud to announce that Toyota's 8-Series lift trucks were recently awarded a silver medal in the annual Plant Engineering, "Product of the Year" awards.
For more than 20 years, Plant Engineering's Product of the Year has been renowned in the U.S. as the industry's most distinguished ranking of innovation in manufacturing products. According to Plant Engineering, it is bestowed only to those manufacturers who have created the best new ideas that make plant management better, faster and smarter.
With over 150 short-listed entries, a special panel of engineers selected Toyota as one of the top finalists for Product of the Year, and final award recipients were then determined by an online poll of Plant Engineering's readers. Toyota's 8-Series received the 2007 Product of the Year silver honors in the Material Handling Systems category. This achievement will be formally acknowledged before an audience of leading plant managers at a gala banquet slated to kick off the 2008 Plant Engineering Manufacturing Summit in Chicago on March 31, 2008.
"Toyota's mission has always been to offer high-quality, durable and environmentally efficient products to our customers. For Toyota to achieve recognition in Plant Engineering's Product of the Year category for the 8-Series is quite an honour," said Rob Reinders, Director, Toyota Canada Inc., Industrial Equipment Division. "To have this achievement voted on by the customers and the material handling industry shows that we're delivering an environmentally friendly lift truck that not only minimizes smog-forming emissions but reduces operating costs and enhances operator safety."
About the 8-Series - the World's Cleanest Internal Combustion Lift Truck
Toyota's environmentally friendly 8-Series lift trucks, which include 6,750-14,550 kg (3,000-6,500 lb), internal combustion cushion and pneumatic tire models, are recognized as the world's cleanest internal combustion lift trucks. Toyota 8-Series LPG, gasoline and CNG lift trucks produce 70 percent less smog-forming emissions than current United States federal government standards.
The 8-Series, which first rolled off the line in January 2007, also offers significant advancements in durability, ergonomics and overall cost of operation.
